Success? A cowboy angel told me

What marks success?  I’m not talking about who’s the fastest or makes the most money.  I mean, if you look at the real successes over history, both good and bad, what is the common denominator.  As an entrepreneur I’m constantly studying what makes someone or something successful.  It’s probably one of the most important things I do on a daily basis and for some reason I stumbled across the answer the other day on my Facebook page and didn’t know it, until now.

Take a moment for yourself and think back on the who, what, when, where and how’s that have made the largest, most significant impact in your life.  I would bet the gas in my truck (not as valuable as it was 2 months ago, but still) that I know it’s root.

Here’s the answer: Read More…

Deer Hunting Season with my Ford Ranger

Jumpin Wally!

Jumpin Wally!

Have you ever seen the “deer in the headlights” look up close, say about 6 feet.   Although I’ve never been hunting for mule deer in the Black Hills of South Dakota I ‘tagged’ my first deer this season.  Burned onto the walls of my memory is the ‘dreaded’ look from an 8 point buck staring my Ford Ranger down on Sheridan Lake road.  I usually give big bucks the benefit of the doubt about not getting in the way.  After all they must know something lasting all the past hunting seasons.  In my precious few moments I named the gravity bound cousin Read More…

Midnight Adventures: South Dakota Blizzard

blizzard2_memorial_park.jpg As you might have notice, South Dakota was just nailed with a blistering blizzard that left 100’s of cars sitting idle as decorations on the landscape we usually know as roads.  I admit that I was one of the destined many that found my way into the night to test the ’stay off the roads’ warnings.  I make a little side money delivering bundles of newspapers to carriers in the middle of the night, so being a man of commitment, I was going to give it my best.  I learned many lessons along the way. Nothing Adventured, Nothing Gained

Well, this has been a long time coming, ever since I planned my very own personal website, http://www.acrossroads.com.  I’ve always loved the concept of journals or personal perspective writing and at last I’ve become 1 of the millions of bloggers.  It’s really too bad that I wasn’t doing this back when I kept a journal and life was much more exciting on a day to day basis.  Don’t get me wrong, life is very exciting now.  Nothing is more exciting than hearing your baby girl giggle really, really hard or suprising your wife with something she loves.  It’s just back in the day when I was working in entertainment I was rubbing shoulders with celebrities like Garth Brooks and Willie Nelson and I guess it was just more interesting for everyone else to read.

Now though is another chapter.  It’s a chapter of growing, creating, sacrificing, and building for the future.  I hope that as the posts grow in this blog I will be able to share lots of fun insight like the little tidbit singer “Tony Orlando” told me one day, “you can play just about anything if you know 3 chords”.  I’m sure it’ll be more fun to share the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur in South Dakota and the joys of having a few dreams to shoot for.  There’s a lot to share and I’m excited to be a part of this time in the world when, at the punch of a button, I can share a story with the globe that could very well make a difference.  If that doesn’t prove the existence of a Creator, I don’t know what does.

thanks for reading.
